Cruising with children on Atlas Ocean Voyages

Atlas’ cultural cruises and polar expeditions have different entry rules. A child eligible for a warm-water itinerary may be too young for Antarctica.

Children’s eligibility and programs

Atlas’ FAQs list a minimum age of 12 months for Cultural and Epicurean Expeditions and eight years for Polar Expeditions. Its terms say the line does not provide children’s care, entertainment or supervision services.

Planning the trip together

For a polar journey, discuss small-boat transfers and the expedition’s demands with the line before booking. Plan the experience around a child’s interest in wildlife and willingness to follow landing instructions. For a cultural voyage, look at long excursion days and rest opportunities. Adults should budget their own time for supervision rather than scheduling simultaneous activities away from the child.

What to check with Atlas Ocean Voyages

  • Check which expedition category your sailing uses.
  • Confirm landing and optional activity eligibility.
  • Plan parent supervision on board and ashore.

Before paying a family cruise deposit

  • Give the line each child’s age on embarkation day and the exact itinerary before paying a deposit.
  • Confirm a bed for every guest, cot availability, and any connecting-cabin arrangement in the booked category.
  • Check passports, visas and consent documents for children travelling with one parent or another guardian.
  • Ask about club registration, independent toilet use, care hours, fees and age or height limits on activities.

Age rules, programs and availability can change. The cruise line’s current terms for your booking and departure govern your trip.
