Resorts World Cruises
Resorts World Cruises was a cruise brand controlled by Malaysian businessman Lim Kok Thay, chairman of the Genting Group, that ran short cruises in Asia and the Arabian Gulf from 2022 to 2025. It no longer sells cruises: in 2025 its ships moved to the revived StarCruises and Dream Cruises brands, which the company now presents together as StarDream Cruises.

About Resorts World Cruises
The brand was set up in 2022 after the liquidation of Genting Hong Kong, the former parent of Star Cruises and Dream Cruises, and Lim's Resorts World also bought the Star Cruises trademarks that year. Its first ship was Genting Dream, chartered after Dream Cruises collapsed and based in Singapore. The former Explorer Dream joined in February 2023 as Resorts World One, sailing from Hong Kong and, from November 2024, from Dubai. In February 2025 the company announced it would split its operations into StarCruises, for affordable port-intensive trips, and Dream Cruises, for a more upscale product; Resorts World One became Star Navigator, and Genting Dream returned to Dream Cruises.
Most Resorts World cruises lasted two to five nights and were sold largely to travelers in the region. Onboard programs included family sailings with LEGO activities in summer 2023 and extra privileges for balcony guests introduced in 2024.
What Resorts World Cruises is known for
Resorts World Cruises was best known as the company that kept two former Genting Hong Kong ships sailing after that group's 2022 collapse, restarting short cruises from Singapore and Hong Kong and adding new bases such as Dubai in late 2024. Trade coverage focused on these deployments and on themed sailings, from LEGO family cruises to special-interest voyages, rather than on detailed passenger reviews, and little English-language review material on the brand itself was found for this profile. Its main lasting effect was practical: the brand lasted under three years before the company returned to the better-known StarCruises and Dream Cruises names, so travelers now book its former ships under those brands.
Who it's for
Resorts World Cruises no longer operates, so this profile is a historical record. Travelers interested in the kind of short regional cruise it offered should look at its successors. StarCruises, with Star Navigator (the former Resorts World One) and Star Voyager, aims at budget-conscious travelers with short, port-heavy trips from Singapore and Taiwan. Dream Cruises, with Genting Dream sailing from Singapore year-round, targets travelers who want a larger ship and a more upscale experience on cruises to Malaysia and Thailand.
