Cruising with children on Viking River Cruises

Viking River does not offer a river-cruise option for a family with children under eighteen. Older descriptions of family travel should be checked against the current booking rules.

Children’s eligibility and programs

Viking’s booking conditions require guests to be eighteen or older. Families travelling with eligible adult children can sail; a minor’s parent accompaniment does not create an exception to the age requirement.

Planning the trip together

For a grown-up family trip, choose the river and excursions together, allowing for different interests and walking preferences. Confirm the cabin configuration rather than assuming a third guest can be added to any room. If the family includes a younger child, compare lines with expressly family-focused river departures instead of planning around an unconfirmed Viking exception.

What to check with Viking River Cruises

  • Confirm every guest meets the age requirement.
  • Check cabin occupancy for adult family groups.
  • Use a family-welcoming river line for minors.

Before paying a family cruise deposit

  • Give the line each child’s age on embarkation day and the exact itinerary before paying a deposit.
  • Confirm a bed for every guest, cot availability, and any connecting-cabin arrangement in the booked category.
  • Check passports, visas and consent documents for children travelling with one parent or another guardian.
  • Ask about club registration, independent toilet use, care hours, fees and age or height limits on activities.

Age rules, programs and availability can change. The cruise line’s current terms for your booking and departure govern your trip.
