HX Explorers
HX Explorers is HX Hurtigruten Expeditions's loyalty program, with 4 tiers from Bronze to Platinum.
Overview
HX Explorers is HX's free loyalty program. Members sign up online and move through four tiers, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, based on points earned mostly from nights on board. When the tiers were introduced, HX counted members' cruise nights from the previous five years toward their starting balance. Points measure status only; they cannot be spent on fares, add-ons or onboard purchases, and each member earns individually, with no joint accounts. Tier, points and member number appear at the top of HX emails and under My Account on travelhx.com.
Tiers
Bronze
0 to 99 points; assigned on joining.
Base member benefits: 5% off optional excursions and partner discounts, including 10% at the Longyear78 shop and selected restaurants in Longyearbyen and 10% off The Cruise Maps, Waterhaul and Bracenet products.
Silver
100 to 349 points.
HX publishes no Silver-only list. Members who have sailed with HX also get its post-travel benefits: 5% off future expedition cruises, in-cabin welcome chocolates, a welcome cocktail on embarkation, access to the onboard loyalty and future cruise manager, and 5% off Hurtigruten Svalbard hotels and day trips.
Gold
350 to 499 points.
Complimentary laundry of up to two bags of clothing per week on board, plus one bag per day for guests in Expedition Suites (not on Galápagos sailings), in addition to the member benefits above.
Platinum
500 points or more.
Gold benefits plus a 25-minute complimentary spa treatment on Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, a printed photobook of the voyage, access to the HX Price Promise, no change fee on core booking components up to 90 days before departure, and a complimentary cabin upgrade when one is available, confirmed about 30 days before embarkation.
How you earn
Members earn 10 points per night in a Polar Inside, Polar Outside, Arctic Superior or Explorer cabin and 15 points per night in an Expedition Suite or Darwin Suite booked before embarkation, plus 5 points for every 250 euros spent on board (excluding HX credits and gratuities; not on Galápagos sailings). Smaller amounts come from other activities: 1 point per night for a Green Night Stay, 5 points for one polar plunge per cruise, 5 for completing the University of Tasmania Antarctic course, 5 per live HX webinar or event (up to 20 points a year) and 5 for signing up to the newsletter. Pre- and post-cruise hotel nights do not count. Points post within 30 days and stay valid for seven years; members move up automatically when their balance reaches the next threshold.
Status match
No status match is published. Hurtigruten coastal voyages do not count toward HX Explorers tiers, but travelers who have sailed with Hurtigruten receive a one-time 100-point bonus.
