About Fridtjof Nansen
Fridtjof Nansen is the near-identical sister of Roald Amundsen, a battery-hybrid Polar Class 6 expedition ship built by Kleven in Ulsteinvik and delivered at the end of 2019. She set out on her maiden voyage in early March 2020, only for the pandemic to cut her first season short, and was christened in Svalbard in 2021. The 140-meter, 20,889-ton ship carries up to 490 guests in all-outside cabins, half with balconies, and has three restaurants, an aft infinity pool and hot tubs, the Explorer Lounge & Bar and a large Science Centre. She sails Antarctic voyages from Ushuaia in the southern summer and northern waters, including Norway and the Arctic, for the rest of the year.
