About Viking Octantis
Viking Octantis is Viking's first expedition ship, a Polar Class 6 vessel for 378 guests in 189 staterooms. Her hull was built at Vard Tulcea in Romania and finished at Vard Søviknes in Norway, and she was delivered in December 2021, sized to fit the Welland Canal into the Great Lakes. Features include The Hangar, an enclosed marina holding Zodiacs, kayaks and two small submarines, a two-deck auditorium called The Aula, and a laboratory used with research partners such as NOAA. She spends the southern summer in Antarctica, on voyages between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, and the northern summer in the Great Lakes and the Arctic.
