Eataly joins MSC's newest ship

MSC Cruises will put an Eataly restaurant on MSC World Asia. It is the second MSC ship with the Italian food brand on board, after MSC World America, according to Cruise Industry News, which reported the news on October 15, 2026.

The ship has finished its final sea trials. It is due to be delivered on November 25, 2026, and to start its maiden voyage on December 4, 2026.

What the restaurant offers

The Eataly venue will have a contemporary design. Its menu mixes regional specialties with classic Italian dishes. Cruise Industry News lists three features worth knowing about:

  • A table chef. A dedicated chef cooks at the table as a show.
  • An ocean-view terrace. Guests can eat outside, looking out to sea.
  • A wine cellar visit. At The Terrace Bar, guests can visit the wine cellar and choose their own bottle.

MSC has not published a menu or a price in the reports. Before you sail, check whether Eataly carries a charge and whether any dining package you buy covers it.

"Exceptional food and hospitality are at the heart of the experience we create for our guests," said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. In a separate statement, MSC said it looks forward to "bringing our guests in the Mediterranean a unique dining experience."

Part of a long list of venues

Eataly is one of more than 40 bars, lounges, cafés and restaurants on MSC World Asia. MSC has been revealing them one at a time. In September, it named five new bar and lounge concepts for the ship. We covered those in an earlier story, linked at the end of this one.

That many choices can be a lot to sort through on a seven-night cruise. Most guests will only eat at a few specialty venues. It helps to pick them before you board, especially if you plan to celebrate on a certain night.

Where the ship will sail

MSC World Asia will sail seven-night Mediterranean cruises. The ports are Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta, according to Cruise Industry News.

That route calls in Spain, France, Italy and Malta. Three of the six stops are in Italy, so guests will have plenty of chances to eat Italian food ashore as well as on board.

A note on the World America version

Eataly first went to sea on MSC World America, which sails from Miami. MSC World Asia brings the brand to the Mediterranean, so travelers in Europe will not need to sail from the United States to try it at sea.

What to check before booking

If Eataly is a reason to choose this ship, a few questions are worth asking MSC or your travel advisor:

  • Whether Eataly is included in any dining package you plan to buy
  • How far ahead you can reserve a table
  • Whether the terrace seats can be requested, and if weather may close them
  • Whether the wine cellar visit has its own charge

My take

Eataly is a fun addition, but I would not pick a cruise for one restaurant. Book World Asia for the route and the new-ship feel, then reserve Eataly for an evening on board. Save the port days for lunch ashore in Naples or Rome.
