About AIDAcara

AIDAcara was AIDA's first ship, built by Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Turku and introduced in June 1996 as AIDA, the 'club ship' that brought the casual style of Carnival's fun ships to the German market. It took the name AIDAcara in 2001, and a 2005 refit added cabins; at 38,557 tons it carried about 1,186 guests. In later years it sailed AIDA's Selection itineraries and, in 2017-18, the company's first world cruise, 116 days from Hamburg. After the pandemic AIDA sold the ship in 2021 to Russian buyers, and it now sails as Astoria Grande, including Black Sea cruises from Sochi.
