About Maud

Maud was the name the coastal ship Midnatsol carried while she sailed in Hurtigruten's expedition fleet, the business that became HX. Renamed in 2021 after a refurbishment that cut her capacity from 674 to 500 guests, she first sailed Norwegian coast voyages round trip from Britain; a 2023 fleet reshuffle then moved her to polar waters, with voyages planned to Antarctica, Patagonia, the Falklands and South Georgia. In December 2023 a rogue wave in the North Sea broke her bridge windows and briefly knocked out power, though all guests were safe. In early November 2024 she was transferred back to Hurtigruten's coastal fleet, reflagged and renamed Midnatsol, and she now sails Hurtigruten's Signature routes.
