About MSC Opera
MSC Opera is a Lirica-class ship that entered service in 2004 and was MSC's flagship until MSC Musica arrived in 2006. A jumboisation completed in Palermo in July 2015 added cabins along with a spray park, new children's and teen areas, a larger buffet and an extended restaurant, bringing her to about 65,600 gross tons. After a 2025-26 season in South Africa she spent summer 2026 on Western Mediterranean and Iberian cruises from Genoa. From 16 November 2026 she becomes MSC's first ship based year-round in the Southern Caribbean, sailing from La Romana in the Dominican Republic.
