About American West
American West is a sternwheel riverboat built in 1995 by Nichols Bros. Boat Builders in Freeland, Washington, as Queen of the West for the American West Steamboat Company, and is the oldest ship in the American Cruise Lines fleet. American Cruise Lines bought it after the Majestic America Line shut down in 2008, refitted it in 2011, and redecorated and renamed it American West in 2022. Built for up to 167 passengers, it now carries 110 guests on four decks, with balcony cabins, a glass-enclosed restaurant, three lounges, a study, a fitness center and a putting green on the sun deck. It was built for the Columbia and Snake rivers and still sails them, between Portland, Oregon, and Clarkston, Washington.
