The 500th crossing

Cunard has announced 93 new voyages that sail between October 2028 and May 2029. The big one is Queen Mary 2's 500th Transatlantic Crossing. Cunard calls it one of the most significant moments in its modern history.

The full trip is a 21-night round trip from New York. You can also join it in Hamburg, Southampton or Liverpool. That Liverpool option is the hook. It is the first time since 2015 that guests can start a Cunard Transatlantic Crossing in the city Cunard calls its spiritual home.

Queen Mary 2 is the world's only ocean liner in service, so this is not a normal cruise ship sailing. A crossing has days at sea in a row, with no ports in between. For fans of the route, a milestone number like 500 is likely to sell fast.

What else Queen Mary 2 does that season

Before the big crossing, the liner sails a mix of trips. There are more Transatlantic Crossings and Caribbean voyages from both Southampton and New York. There is also a 14-night Norway and Northern Lights trip.

A 14-night Western Mediterranean voyage can also be booked as a 29-night round trip from New York. In the Caribbean, Queen Mary 2 stays overnight in Bridgetown, Barbados, and in Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

A 115-night world voyage on Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth first sails from Barcelona to Miami. Then it runs four 14-night Caribbean voyages from Miami. They include Thanksgiving and Christmas sailings and a New Year's Eve trip with fireworks in St. Thomas.

After that, the 2,074-guest ship starts a 115-night round-trip World Voyage from Southampton and Miami. It spans five continents, with stops in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and South Africa. It is Queen Elizabeth's first visit to New Zealand in four years, with calls at Auckland and Wellington. There are overnight stays in Cape Town, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Queen Anne's last big Cunard trip

Queen Anne returns to South America in 2029 on an 86-night South America Discovery voyage from Southampton. You can also board in Hamburg for 90 nights, or take a 60-night round trip from Miami. The route covers the Caribbean plus Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

The standout is an overnight in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival. There are also overnight calls in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Valparaiso and Callao.

This is one of Queen Anne's final big voyages for Cunard. Carnival Corporation has said the ship will move to P&O Cruises in 2029. We covered that ship swap here.

Seven first-time ports

The program adds seven ports Cunard has never visited with these ships. That includes Cunard's first-ever call at Praia, Cape Verde. Queen Elizabeth will visit Fort-de-France, Martinique, and Nawiliwili, Hawaii, for the first time. Queen Anne makes first calls at San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas; Castries, St. Lucia; and Colón, Panama.

In total, the program covers 104 destinations in 49 countries. Cunard says guests spend an average of 12 hours in port, with 18 overnight calls and 18 late-evening departures.

When you can book

If you want the Liverpool departure, mark Nov. 3 on your calendar. Loyal Cunard guests get the first shot, and a milestone sailing tends to draw a crowd.
