A 28-day tribute to Pan Am
Holland America Line has shared what guests will do on board its Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage. The 28-day cruise sails round trip from Miami on Zuiderdam. It leaves on October 30, 2027, according to Holland America's October 9, 2026 announcement, as reported by Cruise Industry News and TravelPulse. The route retraces parts of Pan Am's early routes through the Caribbean and Central America.
The voyage itself was first announced in October 2025. The new details cover the speakers, menus and shore tours.
The full route
Holland America's original announcement lists 18 ports of call after Miami:
- Nassau, Bahamas
- Half Moon Cay, Holland America's private island
- Ocho Rios, Jamaica
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
- St. John's, Antigua
- Castries, St. Lucia
- Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
- Willemstad, Curaçao
- Oranjestad, Aruba
- Santa Marta, Colombia
- Cartagena, Colombia
- Colón, Panama
- Puerto Limón, Costa Rica
- Belize City, Belize
- Cozumel, Mexico
- Progreso, Mexico, for Mérida
Holland America says nine stops, counting Miami, were original Pan Am destinations. Those are Nassau, San Juan, Charlotte Amalie, St. John's, Castries, Port of Spain, Colón, Progreso and Miami.
Who is speaking on board
Five speakers will tell the Pan Am story:
- Willie Aames, actor and storyteller, on Pan Am's pioneering spirit and the Pacific Clipper's World War II journey
- Linda Freire, chair and co-founder of the Pan Am Museum Foundation, on the airline's people and legacy
- Steve Gray, an Alaska-born storyteller, on the golden age of travel and the Flying Clippers
- David Hinson, vice chairman of the Pan Am Museum Foundation, on the airline's service culture
- David Kliman, a travel industry leader with more than four million airline miles, on his own Pan Am memories
The ship will also recreate parts of the Clipper Club, Pan Am's private airport lounges, with moments built around dining and socializing.
Menus and cocktails from the jet age
The dining program borrows from Pan Am's menus. Dishes include a shrimp cocktail, cream of tomato soup, broiled filet mignon, eggplant cannelloni, sole in puff pastry and a Grand Marnier soufflé.
Two cocktails are planned. The Pan Am Cocktail mixes white rum, Campari, orgeat, lemon, egg white and bitters. The Clipper Cocktail uses Mount Gay Eclipse rum, Dolin Blanc, grenadine and a lemon twist.
Four themed shore tours
Holland America has built four tours around the airline's history:
- Cartagena: "Pan Am's Golden Age: Cartagena's Jet Set," a ride through the city in classic roadsters, with local food and a look at the emerald trade
- Colón: a visit to the Agua Clara Locks and a ride on the Panama Canal Railway
- St. John's, Antigua: "High Point," a trip up to Shirley Heights for harbor views like those Pan Am's navigators saw when guiding aircraft in
- Port of Spain: "Pan Am's Caribbean: Wings of Trinidad," at Chaguaramas, Pan Am's former flying boat base, including the Chaguaramas Military History & Aerospace Museum
"Pan Am helped redefine what it meant to travel," said Paul Grigsby, Holland America's vice president of itinerary planning and deployment. Craig Carter, CEO of Pan Am Global Holdings, said the cruise marks 100 years of Pan Am.
Booking and perks
The release does not list fares. Holland America says to book through a travel advisor, by calling 1-877-SAIL HAL, or at its website. The 2025 announcement mentioned an early booking bonus of up to $400 in onboard credit per stateroom for Mariner Society members. Ask whether that offer still applies before you book.
My take
With 18 ports and a full program of talks, this voyage suits travelers who enjoy history and theme nights as much as beaches. If you love aviation history, it is a rare chance to hear Pan Am's story from people who knew it well. Check flights home from Miami for late November before you commit.
