About Celebrity Cruises

The ocean fleet of 15 ships includes four Millennium-class ships from 2000 to 2002, the first cruise ships with gas-turbine power, five Solstice-class ships from 2008 to 2012 and five Edge-class ships from 2018 to 2025, plus Celebrity Flora, a 100-guest expedition ship based in the Galápagos. A sixth Edge-class ship, Celebrity Xcite, is due in 2028, and the new Celebrity River Cruises brand plans to start sailing the Danube in August 2027 with ships of about 180 guests.

Itineraries range from short Caribbean and Bahamas trips to Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and South America, and Galápagos voyages are sold with land packages. Ships are known for contemporary design, a broad choice of restaurants and suite enclaves such as The Retreat, and the line sells an All Included package that bundles drinks and Wi-Fi with the fare.

What Celebrity Cruises is known for

Celebrity is generally positioned as a step up from mainstream lines, and its newer ships draw attention for design features such as the Edge class's cantilevered Magic Carpet and Infinite Veranda cabins. Celebrity says four of its ships, Apex, Ascent, Flora and Millennium, hold Forbes Travel Guide four-star ratings, and the 2026 Celebrity Renewed program is modernizing the Solstice class.

Common criticisms concern value and consistency. Drinks, Wi-Fi and specialty dining cost extra unless guests buy a package, the newest ships carry more than 3,000 guests, which some travelers find large for a premium brand, and the four Millennium-class ships from the early 2000s have seen planned refits cancelled or postponed. Those ships also suffered repeated propulsion-pod failures early in their careers.

Who it's for

Celebrity suits couples and adult travelers who want polished service, good food and modern design without luxury-line prices, and multigenerational groups who want a calmer ship than the mega-ship lines with suites and connecting spaces for different budgets. Its Europe, Asia and South America itineraries appeal to culture-focused travelers, and Celebrity Flora offers a comfortable way to see the Galápagos.

Families looking for water slides, ice rinks and thrill attractions will find more on sister line Royal Caribbean, and travelers who want an all-inclusive fare with drinks, tips and excursions covered, or a very small ship, should compare luxury lines such as Silversea. Budget-minded first-timers may find mainstream lines cheaper for short trips.
